# Composition Settings

**Resolution** - set the width and height of your composition in pixels. Use the drop down above to select some common presets.

**Start Frame** - Set the frame number for the start of the Composition.

**End Frame** - - Set the frame number for the end of the Composition.

**Playback Start** - Set the frame number your playback starts at. This value can also be set using the bar with teal ends at the top of the [Scene Window](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/scene-window).

**Playback End** - Set the frame number your playback ends at. This value can also be set using the bar with teal ends at the top of the [Scene Window](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/scene-window).

**Time** - Shows you the current frame. It does not accept inputs but can be connected to other attributes although [Frame](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/nodes/behaviours/frame) is often a better solution here.

**Frame Rate** - Set the frames per second your comp will playback at.

**Background** - Set your Color using hex or rgb values (note - only rgb values can be animated). You can also adjust your Alpha.

{% hint style="info" %}
Comp nodes created via the contextual menu (right click) within the [Scene Window](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/scene-window) are set to have a **Background Alpha** of 0.
{% endhint %}

**Playback Step** - Play every nth frame.

**Keyframe Layer** - Indicates the current active [Keyframe Layer](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/scene-window/keyframe-layers).

**Active Audio Layer** - Indicates the layer being used to output audio. See [Audio Playback](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/viewport#audio-playback) (requires **Show Beta Features** to be enabled in [Preferences](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/preferences)).

**Motion Blur** - Enable/disable Motion Blur.

**Shutter Angle** - Set the angle of the shutter. The default of 180° will give a you a 'filmic look'. That is, 50% of your frame rate.

**Motion Blur Centre** - Affects whether your blur is backward or forward of the current frame. The default of -0.25° will centre it on the frame (your motion blur will be even in both directions of travel).

**Motion Blur Samples** - Determine how many times the motion blur is sampled. A higher number will result in a smoother blur but also comes with a performance penalty.

**Linear Gamma** - Enable a linear color space.

These settings can also be accessed by dragging a Composition from the [Assets Window](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/asset-window) into the [Attribute Editor](https://scenegroup.gitbook.io/cavalry/user-interface/menus/window-menu/attribute-editor).
